That New Book Smell

Ah, I love the smell of a new book.

I just received delivery from Amazon of The Great War for Civilisation - The Conquest of the Middle East by Robert Fisk. A taxi driver insisted I get it. He said it was "just amazing "and went out of his way to write down the name of the book on the back of the taxi receipt for me.

I'll be reading this for the next 2 months (I'm a fairly slow and deliberate reader) and it's a big 'un.

PS.

I didn't think I was into fantasy books until I stumbled across the Raymond E. Feist series - I recommend you give him a blast regardless of your current reading preference - start with Magician.

Aside:

A lot of people I know don't read. It's shocking!
Fact, Fiction, Fantasy, History, Biographies, Insights... whatever rocks your boat - It doesn't matter - I promise you that if you don't read regularly your missing out.

An Amazing Book: The October Horse

I've been reading the most fantastic book: The October Horse by Coleen McCullogh. Colleen is a historian as well as an author. She brings the Roman world to life allowing us to live inside the heads of all the great names of Rome circa 40BC - Cesar the Great, Antononis the brute, Octavian the Clever, Brutus the Coward, Cicero the Talker, Dollabella the fool, Servilla the bitch etc.

I admit it, i'm a slowish reader - I've been reading this 800 1000 page epic on and off for a month now. But wow, what a book. Love, honor, betrayal, plotting, war, politics, retribution ... the book has it all. Get it - you won't be disappointed!
